Yesterday: Slight Change In Plans

It is utterly frustrating when you have your day planned, then all of a sudden, things get changed.
Above, you can see the minuscule amount of actual art I accomplished. And for good reason. When I came home from early service, I was looking at the yard thinking, "Oh, it's cool out, I could mow quickly...." and of course, have all the rest of the day for art. So I slapped some Neville Brothers gospel music on for the parakeets (yes, they get *church* too, and they expect it), slipped into work clothes and bolted to the John Deere. DH was working so it was just perfect---no cooking, no cleaning up, just GO MOW.
Which I did.
And somehow, when I least expected it, I socked myself in the forehead with a tree limb so hard I thought I was going to get knocked off the mower. This, sadly, is not the first time this has happened. I'm not a quick learner in some areas..... ;-) However, this was the first time I did it hard enough that I couldn't see straight, had a headache and felt nauseous all afternoon.
And, oh yes, I forgot I had that short essay to write that required five books so I could get some research right, all through the haze of the head doing the Rumba. This was an afternoon to remember for sure! I think..... But the writing went well, very well, which makes me wonder what braincells were rattled during the swat.
At any rate, I chose NOT to work in the wet studio in the cellar---in case I passed out and DH couldn't find me when he got home from work---and only after dinner did some cutting, placing and thinking. I mean, by then, I was ABLE to think. Such is the life of Anne.
I'm not making plans for today other than a quick trip in to church for some quiet time due to the fact I won't be able to attend a requiem service tomorrow, so will just offer up intentions on my own. That's my day. If art happens I will love and appreciate it.
May you all be happy creating things that don't require tree limbs, motorized machinery or anything else to put you in a semi-coherent state!
And make ART!
Pax.

The tree resented that you weren't playing music for it, maybe?

Hope you are okay today, concussed much?

Take care of you!

you got more art work done yesterday than I did ... and I don't even have a delinquent thug tree limb to blame for it!

Leslie,

I think there was more of the *cussed* than *concussed*! Mostly I was mad that I did such a stupid thing again.....AGAIN! Same tree I was taking copious photos of earlier in the Spring.
Ungrateful twig......

Tristan,

It seems the harder I try to get art made of late, the more crappola gets in the way, and not stuff I can put off. I suppose it is still the catching up that needs doing from being down for a while, and then Summer and the incessant mowing and yard work.
I'm beginning to think I could live in an apartment.....as long as it was HUGE, in the middle of nowhere, and no one to bother me.
And oh yes, a fully appointed, spacious studio!!!! ;) Right?

But if you lived in an apartment, where would you get all of your lovely garden photos? Maybe you ought to get out your trusty chain saw and cut that limb off before it kills you!

I might not get any art done today as I have a goat sick. I need to try and pour some oil down her throat and I foresee her resisting this.

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

I do NOT envy you dosing the goat. I think, from what I've read, they are even more stubborn than MOI.
Be careful......

You need to go get that branch, take it down, and then put it in the studio for inspiration. I think it needs to become part of your art - pieces of bark, textures, etc. That will be your revenge on it!

Gary asked me today which tree it was, so he could cut it off, and quite honestly---I DON'T KNOW!!!!! I think it was the Poplar, but it could have been the Locust.
Yesterday is a bit of a blur, but at least I'm making art TODAY! :)

Gary has the right idea.

Don't you have a chain saw in that treasure trove of tools?

I can't believe you haven't beat it to a pulp with a sledge hammer. :)

Anne Huskey-Lockard said...

I'm never going to live down that sledge hammer incident.... <:)
Yes, I have a chain saw. And I should do some cutting.....I just like to see them in their natural growth pattern, though I may have to rethink this.

Hey, my mom didn't call me "Awkward Annie" for nothing.....this has pretty much been the story of my life, except the hip was a little over the top.
Have been able to spend most of the day in the studio!!!! YAY!!!!
